Wig Maintenance

Tips for wigs.

  • Detangle daily, after use. Always detangle from the ends first.
  • If the wig is synthetic and very curly, only finger comb. Wet afterwards to help refresh curls.
  • If the wig is synthetic and very long, consider a layered cut.
  • Professional haircoat by John Korea works well on both human and synthetic fibers. It will last a long time. But, it is a long process involving checking ph, soaking, drying, heating, and leaving undisturbed for 7-12 hours. It helps soften, shine and detangle synthetic and human hair. It will also help protect human hair from damage. You can purchase this on ebay or from the manufacturer.
    • I personally suggest the SEV variation for both wig types. The synthetic version didn’t work as good for me personally as the Sev version (Sev is marketed for both fiber types) .
  • Use heat often on heat-friendly synthetic fiber ends once they get frizzy. Use a heat glove to hold the fibers while they cool.
  • If you use lace adhesive, remember to wash your wig’s lace hairline often to prevent buildup.
  • Leave the wig someplace out of reach of dogs, cats, animals.
  • If the lace is bunching up or warped, try pinning your wig on a wig block, then pin wet twill tape over the lace that needs to be re-shaped. Leave to dry.
